NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber)
NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber) is the most popular O-ring material due to its excellent balance of performance and cost. It provides outstanding resistance to oils, fuels, greases, and petroleum-based fluids, making NBR O-ring oil and fuel resistant the preferred choice for automotive, aerospace, and industrial applications.
VMQ Silicone
VMQ Silicone O-rings provide stable performance in extremely high and low temperatures (from -75°F to 400°F / -59°C to 204°C). The material is clean, odorless, and food-grade safe, making it highly popular for food processing, medical devices, and pharmaceutical equipment. Special low-temperature grades are available for ultra-cold applications.
FKM (Fluoroelastomer)
FKM (Fluoroelastomer), commonly known as Viton, offers superior resistance to oils, chemicals, fuels, and extreme temperatures ranging from -15°F to 400°F (-26°C to 204°C). It maintains excellent sealing integrity, resists aging, and is widely used in aircraft engines, automotive fuel systems, and chemical processing equipment. Not recommended for use with alkaline liquids, ketones, or certain hydraulic fluids. Custom compounds are available upon request.
NBR Rubber (Buna-N)
NBR is the most commonly used O-ring material worldwide. It delivers excellent compatibility with oil-related products, fuels, and hydraulic fluids while offering outstanding value for money. It is ideal for automotive parts, aerospace devices, and natural gas equipment. The improved HNBR version provides enhanced resistance to sunlight, ozone, and higher temperatures up to 300°F, making it suitable for more demanding environments.
EPDM Rubber
EPDM excels in resistance to high heat, water, steam, weak acids, and alkaline substances. It is not suitable for gasoline or engine oil. This material is commonly used in light-load drive belts, water pumps, and cooling systems where weather and steam resistance are critical.
CR Neoprene
CR (Neoprene) is a cost-effective material with good resistance to oils and sunlight-induced aging. It offers excellent flexibility and mechanical strength, making it the ideal choice for refrigeration machines, cooling systems, and outdoor applications requiring weather resistance.
FVMQ Fluorosilicone
FVMQ combines excellent temperature stability with good oil resistance, meeting the stringent requirements of the aircraft and automobile industries. It performs well in a wide temperature range and is primarily used for static sealing positions. Not recommended for brake fluid or ketone exposure.
